The Vail Nature Center is one of those hidden gems that Vail visitors and locals sometimes forget about.  The Nature Center has a beautiful seven-acre facility along Gore Creek right across from Ford Amphitheatre where they host Camp Eco Fun, Art in Nature classes, Fly Fishing/ Stream Ecology, a bi-weekly Hiking Program, Photo Safaris and these great family-friendly programs:

Evening Beaver Pond Tour, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, June 22-Aug 24
Beavers are one of the animals that define the Rocky Mountains and Vail, Colorado is lucky to have a healthy beaver population right in town. The evening begins at the Nature Center with a brief presentation about beavers, followed by a drive to a beaver pond where there is an active lodge. Bring warm clothes and a flashlight. Costs are $5 per child, $10 per adult or $30 for a family of four.

Family Fun Night, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays
An evening of discovery as the Nature Center hosts exceptional guest speakers from around the state. Family Fun Night takes place Wednesdays throughout the month of July and will include raptor experts, bee keepers, Native American history speakers and more. Costs are $5 per child, $10 per adult or $30 for a family of four. Call for reservations.

S'mores and More: Family Campfire Program, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, June 24-Aug. 26
A warm campfire, exciting stories of woodland adventures and the sweet smell of burning marshmallows fill this family program at the Vail Nature Center. Costs are $5 per child, $10 per adult or $30 for a family of four.

Stories in the Sky: Stargazing, Sunset on Fridays, June 25-Aug. 27
In the mountains (thanks to the absence of big city lights), you'll see endless constellations, cascading shooting stars and full moons almost as bright as the sun. Costs are $5 per child, $10 per adult or $30 for a family of four.
