The 2009-10 ski season has officially ended after an amazing
weekend of parties, concerts and skiing/ riding on Vail Mo
untain!  Spring Back to Vail was awesome again this year thanks to the collective efforts of Vail Resorts and Highline Sports & Entertainment.  Mother Nature did her part, too.  After predictions of snow/rain all weekend, we lucked out and had sunshine for all of the concerts and pond skimming on Sunday.  No need for rain gear - just short-sleeves and lots of sunscreen!

I missed the Sierra Leone's Refugee All-stars concert, but made Wyclef Jean, Robert Earl Keen and Guster.  Wyclef Jean (pictured) definitely lived up to the billing of "Headliner" for the weekend and rocked the house on Saturday night.  Loved Guster on Sunday!  People watching entertained all weekend - especially on Sunday when not only were Pond Skimming contestants in costume, but also almost every skier & rider coming off of Vail Mountain.  Pond skimming had huge spills and thrills all afternoon.  The one guy who finally made it across the pond on his skis gained instant hero status!

Other events included free BBQ Sunday afternoon at Pond Skimming, the "retiring" of Chair 5 on Vail Mountain (Sun Down bowl chairlift that is near and dear to many locals' high-speed quad chair will be installed this summer) and the "Four at 4" celebration on top of Vail Mountain.   Amy and Joy were both up on the mountain for the latter and said celebrations were laid-back, but packed.

It's definitely quiet now, but kind of nice to have the rest after three weeks of festivals and end-of-season celebrations this month.  Vail Mountain opens on November 19, 2010 for the '10-11 winter season.
