If you have been our guest anytime during the past year, you would have noticed the construction project on the corner of the Lionshead Parking Structure where Subway used to sit.  In fact, many of you missed Subway dearly when you wanted a quick, cheap lunch or breakfast.  It's OK - we did, too.

No one was quite sure what the new building was going to house.  Many have called it a new Visitor's Center or Information Center.  It might offer similar services to the Vail Activities Desk or serve as a comfy, cozy meeting place for those parking in and skiing out of Lionshead.  We knew it would continue to hold the popular kid's play center, Imagination Station.  What we did not expect is the Community Center that has recently opened in the same area as Imagination Station.  In fact, it is still one of the only areas of the new building that has opened.

So far, the Community Center is offering a variety of programming geared towards both kids and adults.  For the younger set, there is Art Sampler, Jewelry Making, Paint Your Own Pottery, African Drumming and so forth.  The grown ups get more active classes like TRX suspension training (which some of the girls at Lodge at Lionshead have been loving), yoga (Vinyasa Flow, Gentle and Intro to) and meditation.  All classes can be done on a drop in basis for a very low $12.  The yoga classes are slower-paced and may not appeal to advanced yogis, but are perfect for recovery from hardcore activities like skiing, mountain biking and long backcountry hikes.  With it's incredibly convenient location to Lodge at Lionshead, why wouldn't you want to take advantage of a little recovery and relaxation?
