The 20th Annual Taste of Vail is underway and is one of Vail's signature events.  Lodge at Lionshead is fortunate to be a lodging sponsor which means we get a handful of event passes for the weekend.  Excellent!  Last night, Joy and I sampled tasty dishes at the Colorado Lamb Cook Off.  This year, the cook off was combined with the Apres Ski Tasting, so we had fabulous wines available to wash down the gourmet fare.  We loved it which should be apparent from Joy's big smile in the photo on the right!  Local restaurant Kelly Liken was declared the Lamb Cook Off winner at the end of the evening.

Today, Amy and I head up the gondola for the Mountaintop Picnic at Eagle's Nest on Vail Mountain.  It is gorgeous & sunny, so I cannot wait to be there!  One of our owners who is a wine connoisseur from the San Francisco area comes out for Taste of Vail every year.  He told me last night that there is no other event in the world like the Mountaintop Picnic and that is reason alone to check it out.  I'll post some photos tomorrow so that you can see for yourself. Other events include the ever-present Grand Tasting and Cigar Seminar.  Some of the funkier offerings this year are Pinot Noir Speed-Dating-Style, Belgium Beer Lunch, Aphrodisiac Seminar with Amy Riley (author of Fork Me, Spoon Me) and Wine vs. Beer with Cheese Thunderdome Celebrity Death Cage Match.  We're not too sure about that last one, but you can't really go wrong with wine, beer or cheese.

We'll let you know how it goes and will have the inside scoop if you decide to come next year for the 21st Annual Taste of Vail.  We think you should!
