Spring has arrived in Vail...for the most part.  I can see Vail Mountain from my desk and it is amazing how quickly the snow is melting.  Last week there was still enough snow for mountain employees to travel via snowmobile and snowcat on the mountain to get things ready for summer.  Now, they can't do that anymore.  Patches of snow are few and far between and I can already see a little bit of green on the big brown areas that have melted.  What a difference a week makes!

Temperatures have been in the 60s and 70s.  Skis and snowboards have been traded in for bikes, rafts, kayaks and golf clubs.  Locals are traveling in droves to take advantage of great deals at the golf courses down valley and I've seen plenty of folks fishing and boating already.  The official kick-off to summer will be Memorial Day Weekend with Blues, Brews & BBQ in Beaver Creek.  We can't wait!
