In spite of the dour forecasts, the weather cooperated nicely and it turned out to be a lovely Labor Day weekend in Vail!  A few sprinkles here and there, but nothing to dampen the spirits of those visiting or the great events throughout town.  Yours truly poured wine all day Sunday in the Five Rivers Ranch tent at Gourmet on Gore and had an absolute blast!  It was my first time at the event even though it's been taking place the past couple of years and I didn't realize what I've been missing.  Now I do.  Wineries included not only my tent, but Bonterra Vineyards, Little Black Dress, Canyon Wind Cellars, Sonoma Cutrer and Korbel Champagne.  My tent was right next to the spirits tent which offered delicious concoctions made with Gosling’s Black Seal Rum, Jefferson’s Bourbon and Pallini Limoncello.  Beer lovers could get their fix at the Stella Artois tent.  Oh and the food...yummy!  On my break, I sampled delicious gorgonzola gnocchi from local restaurant Cafe Milano and had a chocolate cream cupcake from Batter.  There were lamb sliders, ahi tacos, gourmet Larkburgers, sushi, a variety of pastas and more.  The beauty of Gourmet on Gore is that it is an "everyman's" food and wine event meaning it is affordable.  Tastings were $2, full glasses of wine or spirits were $5-6 dollars and samplings of food started at $3.  The atmosphere was lively, but laid back and there were free live jazz performances throughout the day.  Everyone I spoke with at the Five Rivers tent (and there were a lot - I bet I opened between 40 and 50 bottles of wine that day) was having a wonderful time.  Definitely an event I'll be at next year!
