Celebrate the Holidays in Vail

Vail Mountain opened November 21 for the 2014-15 winter season and conditions are incredible! Mother Nature has blessed us with abundant snowfall and it shows. I skied on Monday (4th day of the season) and every run was a powder run. 17 more inches have fallen since then! This definitely ranks up there as one of Vail’s best openings since I’ve been here (19 years). You can check out the Vail snow report yourself online right here.

Vail/Beaver Creek FIS Alpine World Ski Championships

Chances are if you have been to Vail in the last year, you’ve seen a bumper sticker, piece of clothing or sign around town with a prominent “2015” on it. You probably asked yourself, “What in the world is 2015?” Please allow me to fill you in. 2015 is shorthand for the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships which will take place in Vail/Beaver Creek from February 2-15, 2015. It is the largest ski racing event in the world; second only to the Olympics.

Thanksgiving in Vail

Thanksgiving in Vail - When the countdown is on for Vail Mountain’s opening day, you know that Thanksgiving can’t be far behind. Vail traditionally opens the week before Thanksgiving, and this year is no exception. We think it’s pretty nice to be able to celebrate both the start of the winter season, and to gather with family and friends for the holiday all in the span of one week!

Opening Day in Vail

It’s that time of year again…one day it’s fall, and the next day you’re in the middle of a winter snow storm. Just like that, ski season is upon us. Vail Mountain’s opening day is November 21 which is just one month away. Sitting here on this beautiful fall day, it’s hard to believe how quickly we’ll be in season! Vail has already had two substantial winter storms and snow is back in the forecast this week.

Fall Foliage in the Vail Valley

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No, I’m not talking about Christmas. I’m talking about that quiet time between summer and winter when the golden aspen leaves flutter in the sunshine. Vail weather cools off a little, and Mother Nature brings some of the best hiking and biking weather of the year. Think sunny and high 60’s or 70’s during the day, and 40’s at night. Perfect!

Vail Restaurant Week

Foodies rejoice! The second annual Vail Restaurant Week will take place September 26 – October 5, 2014. This “week” is actually 10 days of sumptuous wining and dining throughout Vail and Beaver Creek. All prix fixe menus and specials will be centered around a $20.14 price point. This means you can enjoy some of the best restaurants in Vail at a fraction of their regular prices. I guarantee you our staff will be taking advantage of as many of these deals as we can. Our concierge staff is already studying the offers and picking their favorites!

Lionshead and Vail Oktoberfest

Even though Vail just turned the corner from summer to fall, there is still an impressive line-up of events to look forward to this September and October. The first of these is Vail Oktoberfest which takes place over the span of two weekends in Vail. Vail’s quintessential Bavarian celebration was named among the ten greatest Oktoberfest celebrations in the United States by USA Today. Impressive, right? All the more reason to travel to Vail and check it out for yourself!

Shopping for a Three Bedroom Condo

Even though we don’t have many three bedroom condos in our inventory – only 6 out of a total of 40 rental condominiums  – our owners have managed to upgrade the majority of them to Platinum ratings. We still have one value-priced Gold-rated three bedroom condo, and even it has received some additional upgrades in recent years.  You might be asking yourself, as many of our prospective guests do - what is the difference between a Platinum and a Gold-rated condo?  And who rates these condos?
