Your Guide to Family Fun During Your Vail Summer Vacation

If you are looking for the perfect summer family vacation destination look no further! The Vail Valley is the place for fun and adventure with the entire family. From recreation and activities to cultural events and festivals, there is so much to do the options are literally endless. So endless in fact, I had a hard time narrowing down the list for this blog post! For that reason alone, Beaver Creek, Avon and day trip destinations like Glenwood Springs did not make the cut. I’ll tell you more about those in a future post. For now, it’s all things Vail!

There's Still Time to Book Your Vail Ski Vacation This Spring

Springtime in the Rockies! If you like warm, sunny weather, soft snow and blue bird skies, this is one of the best times to come skiing in Colorado. Temperatures are balmy in comparison to mid-winter and it feels even warmer under the high altitude sun. Gone are the big puffy jackets in favor of lighter layers. It’s not a struggle to keep those fingers or toes warm, and you can even strip down to a t-shirt to work on your tan during après ski. Don’t forget the sunscreen!

Celebrate the Holidays in Vail

Vail Mountain opened November 21 for the 2014-15 winter season and conditions are incredible! Mother Nature has blessed us with abundant snowfall and it shows. I skied on Monday (4th day of the season) and every run was a powder run. 17 more inches have fallen since then! This definitely ranks up there as one of Vail’s best openings since I’ve been here (19 years). You can check out the Vail snow report yourself online right here.

Vail/Beaver Creek FIS Alpine World Ski Championships

Chances are if you have been to Vail in the last year, you’ve seen a bumper sticker, piece of clothing or sign around town with a prominent “2015” on it. You probably asked yourself, “What in the world is 2015?” Please allow me to fill you in. 2015 is shorthand for the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships which will take place in Vail/Beaver Creek from February 2-15, 2015. It is the largest ski racing event in the world; second only to the Olympics.

Thanksgiving in Vail

Thanksgiving in Vail - When the countdown is on for Vail Mountain’s opening day, you know that Thanksgiving can’t be far behind. Vail traditionally opens the week before Thanksgiving, and this year is no exception. We think it’s pretty nice to be able to celebrate both the start of the winter season, and to gather with family and friends for the holiday all in the span of one week!
