Vail Farmers' MarketYou can’t go wrong when planning a trip to Vail during the summer. Summers in Vail offer activities and events to suit all interests. Some of our favorite outdoor activities include hiking, biking, rafting, and fishing. In addition to the endless daily activities. Vail also hosts great signature events each month, as well as some of our favorite events that happen all summer long. That event schedule will look a little different in 2020, but we'll keep you up to date here and on our calendar of events with the latest developments.

Note: All dates and events are subject to change.

June Events

Many of June's regular events have been cancelled or moved due to Covid-19. However, for a fun spectator event check out Vail's Whitewater Race Series, which will take place June 2nd, 9th and 16th and runs right through the heart of Vail Village.

You'll also be able to shop from Vail Farmers' Markets virtual storefront starting June 14th until the market opens in some capacity in July. See our "Events All Summer Long" section below for more details.

July Events

As we all know, the 4th of July is one of the biggest events of not just the summer, but the year! Vail loves to celebrate with its signature event, Vail America Days, that feature activities for the entire family. When you stay at Lodge at Lionshead, you'll have a front row seat to one of Colorado's largest 4th of July parades as it goes right by our property. In the evening, you can’t miss the breathtaking fireworks display on the beautiful Vail Mountain.

August Events

August is usually as jam-packed with events as June and July are, but will be less so in 2020. One of the first big events this month is the Kids Adventure Games, August 5-9th. Kids aged 6-14 years compete on bike, foot and in water in a grueling race with several obstacles. In addition to this big race, the Kids Adventure Games also include several family-friendly events like power yoga, balance bike races, family adventure zones and even a family mud run!

If you’re a beer lover, you won’t want to miss the Vail Craft Beer Classic and Rocky Mountain Burger Battle on August 14th and 15th. Normally in June, this weekend includes beer tastings, burger battles, and “Sip at the Summit” which is Colorado’s highest craft beer experience. During the unique “Sip at the Summit” event, you will enjoy a beautiful gondola ride up to the top of the mountain, a buffet dinner, samples from some of the finest breweries in Colorado, and you may even catch a sunset! Make sure you check out their website to order your tickets in advance.

Events All Summer Long

Of course, we can’t forget to mention some of the best events that, luckily for us, happen all summer long! The Vail Farmers’ Market is every Sunday of the summer and is scheduled to start virtually on Sunday, June 14th this year. The virtual farmers’ market experience and online store will allow customers to purchase produce and locally sourced artisanal products from Farmers’ Market vendors. You'll even be able to stock up on your favorites when you are not in town! The Market's virtual storefront will feature more than 100 vendors including produce, meat, fish, cheese, local artisans, clothing and Meadow Drive Vail Village businesses. Check out some of the awesome featured products and vendors on their Facebook page. The Market plans to open to the public in some capacity in July.

Perhaps one of our favorite events each summer is the free Hot Summer Nights concert series. Moved to late summer this year, a free concert is hosted at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater. Locals and visitors alike attend each show - this year with some social distancing. There is covered seating available, as well as lawn seating where you can even bring your own picnic dinner. If picnic dinners aren’t really your thing, beverages and light snacks are available for purchase at the concession stand. Genres range from rock to country to funk, and past years’ performances have included The Wailers, Darius Rucker, The Motet, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Super Diamond and more.
