Building on the success of the extremely popular Teva Mountain Games hosted each June in Vail, the first-ever Winter Teva Mountain Games presented by Eddie Bauer will take place this February.  Professional and amateur athletes will converge on the mountains and villages of Vail for a celebration of adventure sports, music, art and the great outdoors.  WTMG will feature competitions in mixed climbing, mountain, Big Air, and dual slalom biking, Nordic and telemark skiing, ski mountaineering and snowshoe racing with $60,000 in prize money on the line, along with a one-day vertical challenge in Vail's legendary Back Bowls.

Amateurs are encouraged to participate - really - and if you're not competitive, you still may enjoy something like the Eddie Bauer Ski Boot Run where "boot-clad runners must navigate a minefield of obstacles, including ice, hay bales, tires and a backwards march in this awkward dash for unmitigated glory."  Even I want to sign up!

Spectators will love the Telemark Big Air and Teva Best Trick Bike comps for their high-flying, dare devil displays.  Also guaranteed to please are any of the dog events.  There's also culture - and we're not talking about the stuffy kind.  Take advantage of free concerts by The Spazmatics and Theophilus London, the Outdoor Reels Film series, Mountain Click photo comp and the interactive expo area, demo events, Teva nightlife and more.

Come stay with us at Lodge at Lionshead during the games.  We'll give you 20% off and great advice on what events to see, where to go and what to do so that you enjoy this inaugural event as much as possible!

The Winter Teva Mountain Games presented by Eddie Bauer are a project of the Vail Valley Foundation.
