This is a big deal.  It's a big deal even if you're not a cycling fan.  The Quizno's USA Pro Cycling Challenge is bringing a world-class stage race back to Colorado for the first time since the now-defunct Coors Classic (1980-88).  The race takes place from August 22-28, 2011 and the Vail Valley pulled out all the stops to sponsor one of the stages.  Then, it actually kind of got two.  On Thursday, August 25 the Individual Time Trial (stage 3) starts in Vail Village and follows the popular Vail Pass route east.  The following day, stage 4 begins in Avon (8 miles west of Vail) with riders finishing in Steamboat Springs.  When all is said and done, the riders will have completed a prologue and 6 other stages on a course spread throughout the mountains of Colorado and Front Range.

This is a big deal because Lance Armstrong (need we say more?) was instrumental in making this inaugural race a reality.  It is now an even bigger deal because the top 3 finishing teams from the 2011 Tour de France will be competing along with a who's who roster of international racing stars.  It's like sponsoring a football game and getting the current Super Bowl champions to come play.  Or deciding to host a concert at Ford Amphitheaer and booking U2.  This is a big deal and we are excited to be part of it!

Look for photos and updates from us here on our blog or Facebook and Twitter accounts.  If you get a chance to come up and vacation in Vail for the festivities, even better.  Feel free to contact us for information on the courses, road closures and other special events surrounding the race.

Good luck to all of the racers!
