Even though we don’t have many three bedroom condos in our inventory – only 6 out of a total of 40 rental condominiums  – our owners have managed to upgrade the majority of them to Platinum ratings. We still have one value-priced Gold-rated three bedroom condo, and even it has received some additional upgrades in recent years.  You might be asking yourself, as many of our prospective guests do - what is the difference between a Platinum and a Gold-rated condo?  And who rates these condos?

To ensure the quality of your vacation rental, Lodge at Lionshead participates in the Lodging Quality Assurance (LQA) program.  This is a community-wide initiative established to improve the quality and value offered by the Vail Valley's lodging properties. Under the LQA, a third-party rates each property a Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze depending on its quality, condition, furnishings, appointments and other details.  Lodge at Lionshead is one of the highest rated condominium properties in the area with a 91% Platinum rating for the entire property.  Our Platinum-rated three bedroom condos average slightly higher than that with a 93%.

Officially, Platinum-rated condos are defined as "some of the finest accommodations in the area. Unit furnishings and appointments are of the highest quality, unique and coordinated as are all other aspects of the interior. Custom details and accents enhance overall unit décor. Units contained within these properties are not lacking in any area."  We like to simplify this a bit by saying that Platinum-rated condos have been renovated and have luxury finishes (think granite countertops) and furnishings.  Platinum-rated condos are considered deluxe.

Gold-rated condos "reflect recent interior design motifs and coordinated decorating efforts. Inventory contained within each room of the home or unit is excellent in quality and condition. In short, a gold unit is comfortable and stylish with the feeling of home."  We describe these as having partial upgrades - usually in the kitchen and/or bathrooms - and often newer furnishings in either the bedrooms or living area.  Overall, they are comfortable, but more moderate than the Platinum-rated condos.

Another good way to think about the difference, is that the Platinum condos demand a higher pricepoint.  Gold condos are more value-priced.

All levels of our Three Bedroom condos are 1,600 square feet in size, and face Gore Creek and Vail Mountain. They have full kitchens, dining areas, living rooms with fireplaces, three baths, balconies with gas grills, underground parking and en suite washer/dryers.  Bedding configurations vary from condo to condo, so if you have specific bedding requests please call our reservations desk to discuss your options. Our staff is familiar with each and every condo on our property, and can help you pick the best one for your Vail lodging needs.

Both Platinum and Gold-rated condos have access to all of the first-rate amenities on our property, as well.  Those include outdoor heated pool, hot tub, fitness center, ski storage, bike storage, daily housekeeping, concierge services, and free Wireless Internet access.  There's also Lodge at Lionshead's ideal location along scenic Gore Creek just 100 yards from the base of Vail Mountain.  You just can't beat it!

One final word of advice on shopping for a three bedroom condo - always shop early!  With only 6 condos total, these accommodations are in high demand and have a following of return guests who often book them a year out.  So again, book early - you will be happy that you did!
