The 21st Annual Taste of Vail is just around the corner and if you like food and wine (or beer or spirits), you will LOVE this festival.  In addition to an ever changing list of seminars throughout the weekend which celebrate the latest trends, there are also the events that are familiar favorites which I like to think of as the "Big 3".  The first Big 3 event to place is the Colorado Lamb Cook-off & Apres Ski Tasting on Thursday, April 7 .  Here's why you'll want to check it out:

With it's street festival atmosphere, it is relaxed and right in the heart of Vail Village making it easy to mix and mingle with other festival goers.  Come with an appetite as local and visiting chefs will present a variety of culinary creations featuring this succulent main ingredient.  Last year, there were lamb sliders, lamb chili, lamb tacos...I can't remember a dish I didn't like.  Plates are small so it's easy to sample many different dishes and not feel totally stuffed.  Especially after a big day on the mountain!  Participating wineries that evening contribute varietals slightly different than the norm to wet your whistle.  They call it "Life Beyond Chardonnay, Cabernet & Merlot".  We just call it delicious.

The beauty of this event is that you don't have to have a festival pass to enjoy it.  It is included in the festival pass, but there are also tickets available at the event itself making it more affordable and easy to eat as little or as much as you want.
