Lindsey Vonn has been back in Vail for several days now, but tomorrow the official "Welcome Home" takes place in Lionshead. Some people in my office are playing it cool, but I am having a really hard time hiding my enthusiasm. I am excited to take part in these festivities! Vonn recently won Olympic gold and bronze medals in Vancouver and captured her third consecutive World Cup Overall title, making her the winningest U.S. female skier of all time with 33 World Cup wins, including a U.S. record 11 this season. In short - she rocks - and at just 25 could continue to break records for the next several years.
Starting at 3:30pm on Wednesday, supporters will be greeted with Lindsey Vonn commemorative pins and memorabilia as well as complimentary cookies, hot cocoa and entertainment including a DJ and jumbo screen videos of Vonn’s racing career highlights to date. Local former Olympian Chad Fleischer will introduce Lindsey at 4pm and other dignitaries from Vail will speak, as well. To top it off, there will be Epic Pass giveaways for the 2010-11 season and a children's press conference with Lindsey. How cute is that? See you there!
