The 70th Annual Eagle County Fair & Rodeo starts today.  While it may not be the rodeo you're used to - I grew up in Texas where bigger is always better - it is still a great slice of the American West.  You'll see all the usual stuff like bull riding, bronc roping, bare back rider, barrel racers and 4-H activites.  There will also be tons of live entertainment through the weekend and next week.  

One of the new events this year is the Moos & Brews BBQ and Beer Festival.  The Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned barbeque contest and Micro Brew sampling event includes live entertainment and will begin Friday, July 24, 2009 at 5 p.m. and end Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 9 p.m.  This isn't any old BBQ - this is prize-worthy cuisine.  Definitely a must to attend!

The Town of Eagle is the county seat for the Vail Valley and is approximately 30 miles from Vail, Colorado.  It's a totally different atmosphere from "up" valley and definitely worth checking out.  I'll keep you posted on other great rodeo events throughout the week.
