Vail Mountain is closing this weekend and the '09-10 season is definitely going out with a bang.  Record snow in the last few weeks helps as does the awesome end-of-season bash that is Spring Back to Vail. 

Festivities start with the Bud Light Street Beat Concert Finale (FREE) on Wednesday night featuring DJ Logic's Tribute to Michael Jackson.  Wear your best Michael Jackson costume for a chance to win a pair of Head Monster skis and bindings.  It's also the last chance for locals to register to win a Volvo 2011 C30.

The 20th Annual Taste of Vail is underway and is one of Vail's signature events.  Lodge at Lionshead is fortunate to be a lodging sponsor which means we get a handful of event passes for the weekend.  Excellent!  Last night, Joy and I sampled tasty dishes at the Colorado Lamb Cook Off.  This year, the cook off was combined with the Apres Ski Tasting, so we had fabulous wines available to wash down the gourmet fare.  We loved it

Mother Nature has been holding back on us and is now making up for lost time.  Vail has had major snow storms the last three weeks - usually on Thursday or Friday - that have been big enough to shut down I-70 for a few hours.  In retrospect, a small price to pay for such great snow.  This week, she decided to deliver early.  Vail Mountain has had 32" of snow in the past 48 hours.  That's almost 3 feet of fluffy whiteness!!!  Needless to say words like "epic", "amazing" and the "best day(s) of the season" are b

Lindsey Vonn has been back in Vail for several days now, but tomorrow the official "Welcome Home" takes place in Lionshead.  Some people in my office are playing it cool, but I am having a really hard time hiding my enthusiasm.  I am excited to take part in these festivities!  Vonn recently won Olympic gold and bronze medals in Vancouver and captured her third consecutive World Cup Overall title, making her the winningest U.S. female skier of all time with 33 World Cup wins, including a U.S.

Vail Film Festival comes to town next week with over 90 films on the program.  In its 7th year, the festival continues to grow and for the first time some of the films and events will be hosted in Beaver Creek.  Celebrities you can expect to see around town include Festival Honorees Jane Seymour, Zach Braff and Dennis Haysbert.  There are also non-film events if you don't want to spend the weekend in a movie theatre like Opening & Closing Night parties, Filmmaker Receptions, award-winning screenplay readings, discussions panels, the Stella Artois Cutting Room Hospitality
