Sleigh Ride Dinners

What better way to create memories than a sleigh ride in the Colorado Rocky Mountains? Whether you wish to evoke the nostalgia of your childhood or cozy up with your loved one for a romantic evening, a sleigh ride under the starry night sky is something you will never forget.

Our two favorite sleigh rides in the Vail Valley are at 4 Eagle Ranch and Beano’s Cabin.  4 Eagle Ranch is the best choice for families or those looking for an authentic, western experience. Centered around the historic Nelson Cabin (ca. 1890), it is also the only true horse-drawn sleigh ride of the two.  Because 4 Eagle Ranch is located near Wolcott – about 20 miles west of Vail – it is far from any city lights and offers incredible star-gazing.  When you’re not riding the sleigh, enjoy a Colorado-style buffet dinner as you are serenaded by the resident cowboy singer or roast marshmallows around the open-hearth fire. Kids especially love the latter!

Beano’s Cabin provides more of a 5-star sleigh ride and dining experience.  This sleigh is pulled by a different kind of “animal” – a Beaver Creek snowcat.  That’s how you get to and from the restaurant located high on Beaver Creek Mountain. Once at the cabin, you will be wowed by the elegant ambiance and multi-course dinner.  While everything is delicious, the chef’s signature lamb dish is simply to die for.  Dinner is a leisurely, 2-3 hour affair, so settle in and enjoy!  This is definitely a legendary, one-of-a-kind experience that you must try at least once in your travels to Vail.  Beano’s Cabin has received the AAA Three Diamond award, DiRoNa award and Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.

Useful tips...
  • Dress warm for both 4 Eagle Ranch and Beano’s Cabin. The sleigh rides will be chilly - even with provided blankets - so good boots, hat, gloves or mittens and coats are a must!
  • Pick seats at the front of the sleigh to Beano's.  The snowcat kicks up snow as it journeys up the mountain and the back of the cat gets the most spray.  Trust us on this.
